hinterlands day workshop in Long Ashton
gathering – movement – re-connection
time – toolkits – fields
September 10th 10.30 – 4.30 : meet at Long Ashton Community Centre
… calling performers, dancers, movers, artists, the open and curious who like to move and creatively explore outdoor environments
… an invitation to a day in Long Ashton – on the edgeland between city and country
A morning of movement and training indoors and an afternoon of practice outdoors in fields, lanes and woodland nearby, including ‘taking a question for a walk’. How might a dialogue between mind-body and environment inform us about a troubling question – personal, social or global, and enable us to act in response? This practice can be used simply to investigate a question and/or as an approach to devising creative material.
We will be utilising tools from BodyWeather and Ailsa’s movement and devising practice.
hinterlands workshops are also spaces to re-connect to ourselves, each other and nature, to develop new insights and to support creative exchange.
This is part of a series of events relating to the ongoing development of the performance ‘in the language of grasses’. I am presenting a short workshop/dialogue at the ‘Bodily Undoing’ symposium, then will be opening up a dialogue via Theatre Bristol and then looking for funds and collaborators/performers to further develop the performance.
